AI vanity scam
If you are a writer who’s self-published a book, pretty soon you’ll be approached by a ‘book club’ who’ll want to feature you and your book to their members, for a fee. It’s a nasty scam and avoid it at all costs.

I’ve recently received three invitations from ‘book clubs’‘ wanting to feature one of my books. I responded to a couple before I saw the pattern, including wanting money to cover their costs (which I didn’t send).
They came from, they claimed:
Paul Typerson from The Big Ideas Book Club (which exists and has warned its members about this scam.
Taylor Rempelos from the Colorado Springs Silent Book Club (again which exists but ‘’she’‘ has no involvement I can find)
Matilda Kelly Books - No such company or organisation and the gushing approach email was clearly AI-generated.
Claude Whitmyer has written about this on Medium.

I haven't written a book yet but if I do, I will remember. All the best.
Thanks for the warning.
